Goal Setting For Success Part 2

Posted By: admin on February 25, 2009 at 8:13 am

The second step in our plan to set goals which are successful is:

Step #2 Write Those Goals Down . . .But Don’t Forget About Them

Everyone says it – if you write your goals down, you have a muc greater chance of achieving them. they say this as if it is a magic formula which will make all your dreams a reality, but as you have probably experienced, just writing your goals down won’t create miracles. In fact, if you are anything like me, you’ve probably done exactly as you’ve been told, written your goals according to whatever method is recommended and then promptly forgotten all about them .

So, what should you do after you’ve committed your goals to paper? Next you need to work out how you are going to get to the end result from where you are at the moment. This is particularly important for your long term goals which otherwise might get lost amidst the busy activities which make up your day to day life. It’s a good idea to make your own action plan, by taking your final goal and asking yourself, what do I need to achieve that?

So, for example, if your goal is a particular job which requires 5 years of experience and certain qualifications, you need to work out how you will get the experience and the qualifications. You can then work out the steps you need to take, break those down into smaller goals and work backwards until you find a step you can take today.

Our free goal setting software will help you keep track of all your goals.
