Waller Jamison trained as a careers advisor at the University of East London in 1997 and worked for various charities and colleges, where she also ran a number of training courses. She later trained as a teacher at the Institute of Education, University of London and taught academic writing there for three years. She is now self-employed and writes about careers and other topics, runs several websites and creates information products.
